SPORTS NOTES FOR PORTLAND DUCK FANS
OREGON MEN’S AND WOMENS FALL SPORTS ROUNDUP

SOCCER:

Coach Tara Erickson’s team had an overall winning season and a successful Pac-12 campaign including a sweep of the Washington Schools and a win at LA against USC. The conference season ended November 4. The roster listed 10 Oregonians.

VOLLEYBALL:

Coach Jim Moore’s team is compiling an outstanding overall and Pac-12 wining record. Going into November their record was 15-7, 8-6 to 18-8, 11-7, splitting with USC and UCLA, in mid-November. The Duck’s had a top 16 (6 Pac-12 teams) national ranking thru mid-November matches. Following a heavy November schedule, which concludes Friday November 25 with OSU at home, the Ducks look forward to NCAA opening rounds starting December 1.

CROSS COUNTRY:

Coach Vin Lananna and assistant Andy Powell saw the men’s team finish 3rd at the Pac-12 Meet, the women 4th with the men’s team nationally ranked in the top 201 and the women #11 who received an at-large invitation to the NCAA’s.

BASEBALL:

Coach George Horton held fall practice from mid September through October. The spring season starts in February with 4 games in Hawaii. The first home game is February 28.

TENNIS:

Women’s coach Paul Weber team had 4 tournaments this fall. The spring schedule starts in mid January. Men’s coach Nils Schyllander’s team had a busy fall season with the PNW Intercollegiate in early November. The spring season starts January 20.

GOLF:

Women’s coach Ria Scott’s team had 4 fall tournaments. The spring season starts in mid February. Men’s coach Casey Martin’s team had 4 fall matches and was nationally highly ranked.

SOFTBALL:

Coach Mike White’s team starts out the spring with 4 away tournaments before at home with Alabama March 13 followed by the Pac-12 schedule.

TRACK &FIELD:

The spring season starts March 18 with the UO Preview. The Pac-12 is May 2.

LACROSSE:

Coach Jen Larsen Beck’s team had six fall October exhibition scrimmages in advance of the 16 match spring schedule which starts February 17. The 7 team Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament is April 27-29 at Palo Alto.

ACROBATICS & TUMBLING:

Coach Felecia Mulkey has a 40 women’s roster including 9 from Oregon. The schedule starts February 17 at Matt Arena, with matches against Azusa Pacific and Quinnipiac followed by Baylor March 4. Maryland is included in the away schedule. The National Tournament is April 25 at Waco, Texas.
