The Duck of the Year Award is presented annually to an Oregon Club of Portland member in recognition of his or her exemplary and distinguished commitment, dedication and service to the Oregon Club of Portland and University of Oregon athletics between January 1 through December 31 of the calendar year of the award. Under extraordinary circumstances, more than one individual may receive the award.
The selection of Duck of the Year shall be based on the following criteria:

Meaningful and significant participation in the following:
- Oregon Club membership recruitment;
- Oregon Club fund-raising activities, including but not limited to the Big Green Benefit and Ducks’ Night Out; and
- Any and all other Oregon club events, activities, and programs.

Meaningful and significant involvement in the UO’s athletic programs, including but not limited to participation in the Duck Athletic Fund’s annual fund-raising campaign.

Though the award focuses on each nominee's contributions within a calendar year, the selection committee may consider a nominee's historical involvement with, and participation in, Oregon Club of Portland activities.

Demonstration of the highest level of commitment, loyalty and dedication to the goals and purposes of the Oregon Club of Portland.
