It's not just football that should have Ducks attention, as two women's teams also prepare for their fall seasons
After a 2013 building year, second year soccer Coach Kat Mertz (4-12-3, 2-8-1) and the UO soccer team prepare for 2014 as practice begins for the season opening date at Wisconsin, August 22, with their first Eugene match August 29. In preparation for eleven Pac-12 contests the Ducks are at home for four late-August, early non-conference September matches, plus playing at Portland State, Friday, September 12 at 1pm. Seven matches are already set for Pac-12 Network Television.
Portland-area athletes include Kiyomi Cook (Barlow), Lilly Archer (Grant) and Kern Cook (Barlow).
Volleyball Coach Jim Moore, last year guiding his team to the NCAA’s with a 20-12 12-8 record, has an August 11 practice start in preparation to meet Ohio State at home Friday, August 29. Following a Hawaii trip, the Ducks will entertain Michigan State and Michigan, September 12 and 13 at Matthew Knight Arena.
Portland fans can see the team in action Monday, September 15 at Portland State at 7pm. It’s then a round robin (6 at home) Pac-12 slate except single games against Colorado and Utah. Several Pac-12 Network Television dates will be scheduled.
Portland-area athletes include Liz Brenner (Jesuit), Martenne Bettendorf (Central Catholic) and Taylor Agest (Clackamas).
